A organisé plusieurs colloques, journées d’études, tables rondes et panels à Paris, Lausanne, Genève, Saint-Pétersbourg, Samarkand et Manchester, ainsi que plusieurs expositions.
A cofondé l'Observatoire pour la protection de l’héritage culturel d’Asie centrale Alerte Héritage.
Auteur de plusieurs publications, notamment, L’invention de l’Asie centrale. Histoire du concept de la Tartarie à l’Eurasie, Genève, Droz; Asie centrale. Светлана М. Горшенина – профессор исследований Национального центра научных исследований Франции, EUR'ORBEM (CNRS/Sorbonne Université, UMR 8224).
Историк, историк искусства и историограф Средней Азии, занимающаяся главным образом историей Туркестанского края XIX-начала ХХ веков и первыми годами советской власти в регионе.
Выпускница исторического факультета ТашГУ, она защитила в 1996 г. кандидатскую диссертацию в Институте истории Академии наук Узбекистана на тему «история искусстознания в Узбекистане», в 2007 г. докторскую диссертацию в университетах Лозанны и Париж I-Сорбонна, посвященную выработке концепта Средней / Центральной Азии, и, наконец, в 2016 г. габилитацию по проблемам культурного наследия Туркестана в Институте восточных языков и цивилизаций (INALCO, Париж).
Светлана Горшенина работала в качестве исследователя и/или преподавателя в Коллеж де Франс (Collège de France, Париж), Национальном центре научных исследований Франции (CNRS, Париж), Высшей нормальной школе (ENS, Париж), Высшей школе социальных наук (EHESS, Париж) и университетах Лозанны, Манчестера и Ташкента.
Была куратором нескольких выставок, посвященных фотографиям XIX-начала ХХ вв. и истории археологии Средней Азии, проходивших в Париже, Женеве, Лионе, Равенне, Болоньи, Фрибурге, Ташкенте и Самарканде.
Cоучредитель международной Обсерватории Alerte Heritage, в защиту центрально-азиатского культурного наследия.

Svetlana Gorshenina is Research Professor, EUR'ORBEM (CNRS/Sorbonne Université, UMR 8224).
She is a historian and art historian of Central Asia, mainly involved in the history of Turkestan of the nineteenth to the early twentieth century and the early years of Soviet rule in the region.
A graduate of the Tashkent State University, she defended her first PhD thesis in 1996 at the Institute of History of the Academy of Sciences of Uzbekistan, then a second doctorate in 2007 at the Universities of Lausanne and Paris I-Sorbonne, and finally, in 2016, a habilitation on the cultural heritage of Turkestan at the Institute of Oriental Languages and Civilizations (INALCO, Paris).
She has worked as a researcher and/or lecturer at the Collège de France (Paris), the CNRS (Paris), the ENS (Paris), the EHESS (Paris) and the Universities of Lausanne, Manchester and Tashkent.
She has curated several exhibitions of nineteenth and early twentieth century photographs and the history of Central Asian archaeology, and co-founded the international Alert Heritage Observatory (which aims to save Central Asian Heritage).
